Just another day here — nothing to mark that it’s any sort of a holiday other than a few more people milling about. Probably taking advantage of a long weekend.
I miss going to see fireworks. I always loved going to see them at a big park, or those few years that we went camping up near Yosemite and watched fireworks over the lake. Divine! Arriving a few hours early to find parking and get a good spectating spot. Then passing the next few hours chillin’ out on the blanket, munching on goodies from a picnic basket (or Trader Joe’s bag!) with good friends and family. When the fireworks start, laying down on the blanket, face up to the sky and the feeling that it’s exploding above me. If you’ve never watched fireworks from this position – you must!!
But if the geek in me is honest, probably the thing I miss the most about 4th of July is the Twilight Zone Marathon!!! Enjoying a whole day off, on the sofa, napping intermittently and watching tales of the weird. It’s the little things like this that I never realized I enjoyed so much.
Happy 4th of July — enjoy what ever it is you do.
