I am just so, so, so proud of my daughter, Danae. This past few weeks she has participated in her first art fair events. I just can’t believe the great displays she’s come up with and her jewelry collection has come so far!!
She started making jewelry last year when she was living here in CR. She’d work with me in the shop and was making her own designs made mostly of recycled t-shirts.
Right before she left Costa Rica, she started experimenting more with sheet metal and wire. She fell in love with it and really started working toward developing her skills and creating a brand of jewelry all her own. She named her line Amaliy Jewelry. Since last year, she’s come so far in her designs, creating unique etched patterned and patinaed pieces. She’s been mailing me care packages with things to sell in my shop in Tamarindo and all of her pieces sell really well. I knew she was onto something good!
It’s been so exciting for me to watch all of this unfold for her. I know how excited I was while learning to make jewelry (and still am!!) and to realize that I could actually do this as a way to support myself was an amazing revelation! To see her this weekend in action, interacting with people that love what she does enough to part with their hard earned cash – well that was like a dream come true for me.
And it made me realize, when I decided to leave my corporate job and pursue making jewelry, I had no idea that I was not only opening that door for myself, but for her as well. To see her succeed and grow and become successful in her art, it’s more than I could ever ask for!!
Feeling abundantly grateful and blessed at this moment.
You can check her out on her feed on Instagram and see her studio and how her process works, also on Facebook.
