This year — as in the next 12 months — I want to hike Costa Rica’s tallest mountain, Chirripo. It’s also the 5th highest mountain in all of Central America. It might sound like a lofty goal, but I’m pretty sure with a bit of focused training and prep, I can do it without dropping dead of a heart attack 😉
I first heard about Chirripo in September. I was looking for a new gym to join and had driven by one about 10 minutes from my house many, many times. I decided to check them out on Instagram. I saw a post from a few months prior of a group photo of those who did the hike up to the top of the mountain. I had no idea what Chirripo was, so of course, I looked it up. It seemed like exactly my kind of excursion. Challenging. Hiking. In nature. And after reading multiple blog posts and newspaper articles, a little intimidating (but in the best possible way!). I must do this hike.
With this new found goal, I’ve purchased new hiking boots and put the intention in my mind that they were going to get broken in — end goal was them transporting me up the mountain to the summit.
Stay tuned.
