BRAND STORY
Hi, I’m Tricia — the maker and designer behind Urban Eclectic Jewelry.
This whole adventure started back in 2005 in Los Angeles, totally by accident. At the time, I was drowning in corporate burnout, working long hours at a job that drained me. To unwind, I started making simple wire jewelry at night. I never dreamed this would become a business, it was just a way to decompress and clear my head.
But then I started wearing my creations out and people noticed. Friends and co-workers began asking for pieces, and just like that, a little side hustle was born.
By 2007, it hit me: I couldn’t keep spending my days overwhelmed and unfulfilled, trading my time for a paycheck and a job I didn’t care about. So, in 2008, I took a leap, I sold my stuff, saved a little cash, and moved to Costa Rica. I arrived with a backpack, a tiny bit of savings, and zero lue what was next. I had an incredible amount of hope that something beautiful would unfold. Worst case? I’d burn through my savings, get an amazing tan, have a long vacation and go back to L.A. to regroup. Best case? Well...it unfolded in front me.
A few months in, I stumbled onto the chance to open a tiny beachfront boutique in Tamarindo. Over the next 16 years that little after-work ritual I started in L.A. bloomed into a full-fledged brand, sold not just in my shop, but in other boutiques as well. As the brand grew, so did the responsibilities of running a full time shop as well as a full time wholesale business.
By 2024, I once again began to experience job burnout. The day-to-day responsibilities of running a shop while simultaneously managing the growing wholesale side of my business was taking energy away from what I loved the most, desiging and producing jewelry. It also became clear that the beach chapter of my life was closing. As dreamy as it had been, I was craving city energy again, the noise, the chaos, the rhythm. I sold the boutique moved to the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose. This shift gave me space to fall in love with creating again. No shop to run, just me, time to daydream, design and reconnect with the spark that started it all.
Urban Eclectic Jewelry is still rooted in those first handmade pieces — unique, bold and for people who want their accessories to be an expression of their individuality.

☽STUDIO☾
Every unique piece from Urban Eclectic Jewelry is handmade in my studio.
I love to sit at my workbench, daydreaming while looking out the window at a beautiful view of lush, green mountains in the distance.
My little doggie Foxy is usually in her bed or snuggled up next to me, somehow napping despite the sounds of metal being hammered and formed.
