For anyone who knows me, they know that Santa Teresa (located south of Tamarindo) is one of my first big loves here in Costa Rica. When I first visited in 2004, Santa Teresa was my second stop on the Pacific side and I was immediately smitten with Costa Rica and this quaint little beach town in general.
Over the years I’ve visited many times, however I hadn’t been there in about 4 years. This December, a friend of mine who was visiting from the U.S. and I decided to take a drive down to see my beloved. I was thrilled to find out that the inland route roads have been pretty much “repaired” and are in great condition by Costa Rican standards. The drive from Tamarindo to Santa Teresa took only about 3.5 hours!
I love Santa Teresa for so many reasons, one being that you can sit on the beach and have just about the entire thing all to yourself. Tamarindo, where I live, is a busy beach, full of travelers, locals and lots of vendors walking by every few minutes trying to sell you things. There’s none of that in Santa. Looking as far as you can in either direction, there are only a handful of other people.
I love all the pretty footpaths that lead to the ocean.
And dogs. There are dogs, which I’m totally ok with!
Santa Teresa just has a super beautiful, tranquil vibe that I have felt very few other places.
Amazing food at my one of my (many) favorite restaurants named The Bakery. Everything on the menu is d-e-l-i-s-h, especially this fresh tuna sandwich!
And let’s just talk about epic sunsets!
((sigh))
And with that — I leave you with this….
