Happiness is taking my lil’ doggie Manchita to the beach at sunset and playing her favorite game — catch the sand ball.
Random Thoughts for Monday
It’s Monday!!! But living at the beach – really everyday is the same here. I can easily lose track of what day it is or what the date might be if I don’t have any wedding appointments coming up (which thankfully I do!!) or anything else that needs to be done on any particular day. There are days like today, that I feel a little lazy when I come in – and that makes for a slow start. Oh well…..there’s always tomorrow. (God I become more Costa Rican everyday!!!)
So my best lil’ furry friend Manchita and I decided that there would be no better way to start the day and get motivated than to put on some groovy house music and have our own dance party in the shop.
Nothing gets us girls going better than some funky house beats 🙂 Luckily, Manchita loves house music, plus she’s a badass dancer!! This girl’s got it all!
Thankfully I’ve got enough goodies in the shop now that it at least looks like I’m back in biz. For a few weeks, people were wandering through asking “Are you closing?” Nooooooo….I’m opening!! I’ve got lots of new things of my own, and I’m excited to have some of my daughter’s new things in here also. She’s recently really started delving into more metal work so her new things look awesome in the shop paired with mine. And of course I’m super happy that she’s working towards a career in something creative. I can vouch for the happiness in that!!!
My next little endeavor for the coming weeks is to make some small boho’ish leather wallets and bags. I’ve got lots of leather that is just a bit too thick for bracelets, but would peerrrfect for this project. We’ll see how it all turns out. Sometimes ideas look great in my mind, but when I sit down to pull it all together, it’s rubbish. Blah!
Haven’t devoted much time to updating the website. I need a little elf to do all my administrative tasks.
I think after years of computer work – I inwardly rebel and procrastinate against anything that might resemble real work. But my new inventory is growing everyday, which means the list of items to upload to Etsy grows as well. ***Sigh*** I know I need to start getting on it. Tomorrow …. (wink wink).
Doggies & A Waterfall
This time of year is my favorite time in Costa Rica. It’s the end of the rainy season. Everything is green and lush, we have lots of sunny days, but still have some rainy afternoons and nights. It’s the best of both worlds!! Once the rain stops completely, everything gets dry and brown and after about 5 or 6 months of just heat, I’m always ready for the rain to start up again.
But what I miss the most once the rain totally stops are the little bits of wilderness (present only during the rainy season) that I get to implement into my daily routine. For example, I have 5 dogs and we usually go for a walk every morning before I head to work. About 5 minutes from my place, there is a wooded area and a small ravine with a little waterfall below. All of my dogs l-o-v-e the water and so when we get to the waterfall, they scramble down the ravine and each have their chosen water game.
Merlin, the oldest doggie we have, loves to lap at the water coming down and also try to find rocks we throw from above. Manchita, the baby of the family, she likes to be the back-up catcher for Merlin, in case he misses any of the rocks. Carmen and Lola, they like to sniff everything around the water and try to see if there are any small fish they can catch. Then there’s the timid girl, Maya, who supervises from above the waterfall.
Once the rain stops, within a few weeks the waterfall dries up. It takes the dogs a few weeks to figure out that the waterfall is gone, and they always seems so confused. Where’d the water go?! But lucky for us, the rain always returns and the waterfall always does too.
